Skin testing for salons has become such a headache over this last lockdown but sadly it’s so important as insurance companies are now mega strict on what they will and won’t accept.
Hair colours contain chemicals which can cause an allergic reaction. An allergic reaction can be a serious risk to health in some people, screening with Colourstart before using hair colour helps minimise the risk of a potential allergic reaction to PPD.
Colourstart is a ready-to-use patch test for finding out if you might be allergic to one of the ingredients (PPD) in hair colorants.
If you can't make it to the salon to have a skin test carried out by your professional stylist, then this can be ordered and deliverd straight to you! You simply log on to your online 'colour passport' and follow the super easy instructions!
We will still be offering a FREE, in house Allergy Alert test (skin test) but we now feel that the safest and convienient way to perform skin testing is to follow this new Colour passport.

When you have received your Colourstart skin test, download the patient information leaflet and follow the instructions

Once you have applied you skin testing patch then upload the details onto the Colour Passport App.
You will need the SERIAL NUMBER from the packet
*Make sure you insert us BINKS Hair Studio as your salon of choice, and then that’s it!
Every time you need to come for a colour just go into the app and fill in the form to see whether Colour Passport requires you to perform a new test. If not great we will be able to see their recommendation and we can book you in. If it tells you to retest, you will be required to purchase a new test.
